The month of February isn't quite over yet, but early projections show that it will likely continue the red-hot start to the year that automakers have enjoyed.
Last week, Kelley Blue Book predicted that sales for the month would top 1,000,000 units, and now automotive analysis firm TrueCar is chiming in with its prediction as well. TrueCar pegs the number at 1,088,321 units, up 9.6 percent from February 2011 and up 19.2 percent from January 2012.
The firm also upgraded its overall forecast for the year to 14 million units, as the auto industry's first two months have been better than expected.
"The signs for 2012 point to a great period of recovery for automakers as the industry looks at continued growth through the year, " said Jesse Toprak, Vice President of Industry Trends and Insights for TrueCar.com. "We are upgrading our 2012 forecast to 14.0 million units based on improving consumer demand, better credit availability, and dozens of compelling new products due to arrive at the dealerships this year."
Many drivers are buying new cars right now, but it can be just as beneficial to hang onto your old car. In order to ensure your vehicle stays on the road, be sure to keep up with your auto maintenance.
