"Fast Five" took the box office by storm on its opening weekend, racking up nearly $84 million in receipts and setting a record for its parent company, Universal. Yet most moviegoers don't care about the film's box office receipts - they just want to know what cool cars the movie shows off.
Perhaps the most famous car in the series is Dom's (Vin Diesel) 1970 Dodge Charger, and it's back and better than ever in the franchise's fifth installment. In the film, the car is quoted as being outfitted with a supercharged Hemi that produces 900 horsepower, but that was a bit much for practical filming purposes, so the actual model that stuntment drove for the chase sequences "only" featured a 400-horsepower engine instead.
Dom starts the film off in his beloved Charger, while his accomplice Brian prefers a 1972 Nissan Skyline. Later on, what many consider to be the modern take on the Skyline, the Nissan 370z, is also glimpsed.
Fans of vintage cars will have fun spotting all the old-school models in the movie, like the 1963 Ford Galaxy or 1966 Corvette Grand Sport. Yet there's also some brand-new models, like the Lexus LFA or the Subaru STi. Of course, the outlaws are chased down by cops in modified Dodge Charger Police Interceptors.
