The auto industry struggled a bit in the month of July, as Japanese automakers continue to be challenged by the fallout from the earthquake disaster. However, this cleared the way for domestic models to take top positions on the best-selling models in the country chart.
As is the case in most months, domestics were at the top in the form of pick-up trucks, with the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado retaining their title as the best-selling cars in the country. After that, it was the Toyota Camry, followed closely by the newcomer Chevrolet Cruze.
The Ford Escape took fifth place on the back of a 66 percent year-on-year gain, reports Cars.com. Two foreign models, the Nissan Altima and Hyundai Sonata, took 6th and 7th place. From there on out, it was domestics rounding out the list in the form of the Dodge Ram, Chevrolet Malibu and Ford Fusion.
Purchasing a new car can be a great move, especially if the vehicle gets good gas mileage. However, the value of a car depends entirely on the way a driver maintains it. Keeping up to date on vehicle inspections, tires, brake service and repairs is a good way to ensure your model remains in that like-new condition.
