Kelley Blue Book has named the year's 10 Best SUVs Under $25,000. The list is the first of its kind from the car information site, which chose the 2013 Honda CR-V as the top compact SUV from the past model year.
The Honda vehicle was set apart thanks to its high five-year residual value and relatively low cost of ownership. Drivers don't have to worry about extensive vehicle maintenance or upkeep, and they can receive solid mileage and value from the SUV.
"Far more flexible than a sedan but more affordable, maneuverable and fuel-efficient than a full-size SUV, today's compact SUV is a masterful mix of style and practicality," said Jack R. Nerad, an analyst for Kelley Blue Book. "... We ranked the perennially popular Honda CR-V No. 1 because it is so outstandingly reliable and exceptionally easy to get along with."
Other vehicles that earned recognition include the Mazda CX-5, Ford Escape, Toyota RAV4 and Kia Sorento, which filled out the top five positions. These SUVs typically come with a contemporary design, plenty of cargo space and top-notch technology that can keep even the biggest family safe.
