The Toyota Corolla has long been the king of compact cars. It is consistently among the best-selling compact cars - in fact, it has even been one of the most popular models in the entire world throughout the past several years. However, the Corolla is facing a new challenge from another compact vehicle: the Honda Civic.
According to Motor Trend, the Honda Civic claimed the title of the best-selling compact car in October. It sold 27,328 vehicles in the month, beating out the Corolla, which moved approximately 23,637 automobiles in the same time period. That is the opposite of what happened in September, when the Corolla edged out the Civic in sales by fewer than 400 vehicles.
The Civic and the Corolla are consistently among the top options for vehicles thanks to their strong reputations. Both vehicles are known to offer low vehicle maintenance and impressive fuel efficiency - all without breaking the bank.
Rounding out the top five in sales were the Chevrolet Cruze, the Ford Focus and the Hyundai Elantra. While these vehicles were also some of the best-selling options on the market, they were far outpaced by the Civic and Corolla, and they don't appear to be ready to challenge for the top positions any time soon.
