Everything you need to know about the 2015 M4 Convertible

Spring is in the air and summer is right around the corner, meaning motorists are itching to roll their windows down to get some fresh air on the open road. Better yet, drivers may be eager to roll the whole top down. For such an activity, there's hardly a better brand than BMW. The automaker is known for designing convertibles that epitomize practicality, durability and style all while demanding minimal vehicle maintenance and tune-ups. As BMW is always looking to take their offerings up a notch, it's not surprising that one of their newest models looks even sleeker - and rides even smoother - than the brand's options in the past.

Auto enthusiasts will likely rejoice that BMW recently revealed the 2015 M4 Convertible at the 2014 New York International Auto Show, and it promises to live up to the hype that has been building up. Slated to release in BMW's performance line later this summer, this vehicle includes a number of features that are bound to excite drivers who are looking for a ride that fits in with their luxurious lifestyles - and gives their hair a windblown effect.

Here's a look at the sleek new droptop.

Sporty styling
One of the first things you might notice about the BMW 2015 M4 Convertible is that it resembles the coupe, with the same aerodynamic mirrors, long wheelbase and short front overhang. AutoBlog highlighted the face of the vehicle as one of the most attention-grabbing visual aspects, noting that its "expressive, angry face" seems to warn others to get out of the way on the road. Adding to its intimidating looks are yellow-painted brake calipers, squinty LED headlights and the iconic twin-bar kidney grille. Naturally, the source pointed out that there is no shortage of "M" branding logos around the vehicle, just in case the convertible didn't already scream extravagance.

Even the double-spoke leather steering wheel is supremely chic, with chrome trim, color contrast stitching and of course, the iconic M logo.

Impressive power
Unsurprisingly, BMW chose to equip this open-air vehicle with the same twin-turbo-charged 3.0-liter engine as the coupe. The high-revving machinery supplies 425 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, and according to the automaker, the M4 can go from 0 to 60 in merely 4.4 seconds with the six-speed manual transmission. When equipped with the seven-speed M dual-clutch transmission, this vehicle is capable of sprinting the same speed in 4.2 seconds. Since the engine weight has been reduced, the 2015 M4 also offers improved throttle response and smoother acceleration.

That's not all, though - BMW has also ensured that the automobile offers optimal efficiency. TwinPower Turbo technology, High Precision Direct Injection and Valvetronic variable valve timing work together to deliver power more effectively, thus minimizing emissions and fuel consumption.

Creature comforts
Don't worry about staying warm in this convertible. The 2015 BMW M4 contains neck warmers with three different temperature levels to keep you cozy, whether the top is up or down.

Steering this droptop is a unique experience. The system contains an integrated Servotronic function, which automatically adjusts the steering assistance according to the vehicle's speed. Additionally, drivers can select from three different settings - comfort, sport and sport +, for steering depending on the circumstances or their preferences.

It's impossible to discuss the new BMW M4 convertible without talking about the top. With the press of a button, a driver can feel the wind on his or her face in a matter of 20 seconds at speeds of up to 11 mph. Additionally, the lightweight windblock is simpler for drivers to affix and remove, and can easily be kept behind the rear seat when not in use. Motorists don't have to worry about having easy access to the trunk, whether the top is up or down, thanks to the loading assistance feature.
