There was no doubt that Chevrolet's new commercial celebrating its 100th anniversary would be dripping with nostalgia. The iconic manufacturer really went all out for the new TV spot, using Ray Charles' version of "America the Beautiful" as a backdrop to a images of classic Chevrolet cars.
The idea for the commercial is similar to a popular blog, "Dear Photograph," according to Mashable. The blog showcases submissions of old pictures juxtaposed against the same setting in modern times. For example, one blog post shows a photograph of an old sapling, held up against the tree that it has grown into since the picture was originally taken.
The Chevrolet commercial uses a similar concept - taking old photographs of Chevy cars and holding the photo up against the same setting today. In the final shot of the commercial, a photograph of a family crowded around their Chevrolet is taken away to reveal a modern family and their electric Volt.
If you want your classic car to keep running for years and years, you have to pay attention to auto maintenance and repairs. Little things like regular tune-ups and oil changes can ensure that these vehicles stay on the road for hundreds of thousands of miles.
