Chevrolet, the famed American automaker, has released a variety of Z-Spec accessories for its 2012 Sonic small car model, expected to be on the road by fall.

Planned for showcase at the New York International Auto Show, the package of extras will come with multi-colored exterior add-ons and graphics that symbolize the car's performance abilities.

"The new Z-Spec accessories reinforce Sonic's fun, youthful spirit," said Rick Scheidt, the vice president of marketing at Chevrolet. "Customization is particularly important with the customers we believe will gravitate toward the Sonic, and we want to help them make their vehicle look exactly the way they want as easily as possible."

With a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine and a 40 mpg highway fuel rating, the Sonic is poised to become one of 2012's hottest small cars.

According to a press release, specific exterior accessories include painted alloy wheels, a silver exhaust tip, a roof spoiler and a front fascia extension. Inside, aluminum pedals and sill plates are part of the upgrades package.

Each product can be purchased individually, as well.

Other adds-ons will be available for the Sonic, but aren't considered a part of the Z-Spec package. These include chrome mirror caps and trunk trays.
