Some cars simply seek solid sales numbers or five-star safety ratings, but few are immortalized in such a way the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray was recently. The iconic and beloved Corvette will be a Monopoly game token in the upcoming rehash of Hasbro's classic board game. Alongside the Corvette Stingray, the new Monopoly, Monopoly Empires, which replaces the regular real-estate oriented aspect with iconic international brands, will also feature McDonalds French fries, a Coca-Cola bottle, an Xbox controller, a Paramount Pictures clapboard and what appears to be a Ducati motorcycle as game pieces.
The Stingray has been the quintessential car of "cool" for decades and has been lusted after by car lovers everywhere.
"Five decades after its introduction, the 1963 Corvette remains one of the most startling, engrossing and completely thrilling automotive designs of all time," said Edmunds in its history of the Chevrolet Corvette.
It only seems fitting that the Corvette is placed with other iconic brands from around the world in one of the bestselling board games of all time. While it won't be quite the same as driving the real thing, at least the Monopoly token Corvette won't require any auto repair or scheduled maintenance to keep it running smoothly around the board.
