Practice good habits during National Tire Safety Week

Vehicle safety is always a high priority, but awareness efforts can help spread the word and keep drivers protected on the roads. This week, the Car Care Council is encouraging motorists to recognize National Tire Safety Week, which aims to educate people about how to properly maintain tires

"Your car's tires affect its ride, handling, traction and safety, so this National Tire Safety Week, be sure to do your PART and check the Pressure, Alignment, Rotation and Tread," said Rich White, executive director of the Car Care Council. "... It only takes five minutes to check tire pressure and stay safer on the road."

"PART" is an acronym designed to help drivers remember what they should be checking for when they examine their tires. Keep an eye on pressure and tread throughout the year, as they can be affected by weather, driving patterns and other conditions. By inflating tires when needed and conducting the penny test to measure wear and tear, you can make sure you're getting the most out of your automobile.

Tire alignment and tire rotation should be done periodically by a professional or an auto repair franchise. Having these areas fixed can improve the quality of a driving experience and extend the life of current tires.
