Have you checked your car recently? Spring is a prime time to have an automobile looked at by a professional, and if your car is like thousands of others on the road, it probably needs some updates.

According to a study from the Car Care Council, about 77 percent of vehicles need some kind of auto repair or parts replaced. The most common areas of concern were engine oil, engine cooling systems and brake service, all of which required attention in about one-fifth of all automobiles examined.

"Neglected vehicle care almost always means much higher costs down the line in the form of more extensive repairs or lost resale value," said Rich White, executive director of the Car Care Council. "Following a routine maintenance program ... can help you drive smart, save money and make informed decisions."

Other frequently found problems included ineffective air filters, battery cables and clamps, fluid levels and windshield wipers. While some of these fixes are relatively easy, like getting an oil change or restocked coolant liquid, issues relating to engine checks and replacing parts usually mean a visit to an auto repair franchise for a car tune up. Professionals are more than capable enough to handle a standard vehicle examination, and they can diagnose problems and fix them quickly and efficiently.
