Now that most 2014 models have been unveiled to the public, many major publications are beginning to recognize the few that stand out from the rest. The 2014 Cadillac CTS was the latest to receive an honor after it was named "Car of the Year" by Motor Trend.
There were seven finalists competing for this award, and each was evaluated based on its design, engineering excellence, efficiency, safety, value and performance. While aspects like vehicle maintenance and the cost of auto repair were certainly considered, they took a backseat to elements like the competitive price and technological features.
"The all-new 2014 Cadillac CTS prevailed over one of the most competitive fields in recent memory because it best met our award's key criteria," said Ed Loh, editor-in-chief of Motor Trend. "Our judges were particularly impressed by the CTS's responsive powertrains and masterful balance of smooth ride and sporty handling."
Drivers should be excited the CTS is getting such rave reviews. It was created specifically to challenge BMW's 5-series sedan and the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, and the early hype has the vehicle competing with these luxury sedans.
