2012 Acura TL is much improved

Reviews are in for the 2012 Acura TL, and while much is the same, the design of the car has elevated the sedan to a whole new level on the prettiness scale, according to MotorTrend.

A new six-speed automatic transmission also enhanced the 2012 model. Improved quality factors like fuel economy (moving up three notches from 26 mpg to 29) and optimized gear ratios make the car move quicker without wasting as much gas.

The 280-hp 3.5-liter V-6 engine remains, but that doesn't appear to be a problem, especially with the better gear switches.

Design-wise, the Acura seems to have gotten a bit more character. Jeff Conrad, Acura's vice president of sales had said the 2009-2011 styling may have been too aggressive, but the 2012 model seems to have taken that boldness and refined it.

"On paper, it appears Acura has addressed most of the major concerns we had about the 2011 TL. With the U.S. new car market slowly growing and the TL refreshed, Acura should have little problem increasing the sedan's sales in 2011," concludes the auto experts.
